<reviewbody>This film, similar in vein to 'Dating Do's And Don'ts' follow dating-challenged kids around and shows them what to do and what NOT to do. As a matter of fact, the film is almost a rip-off of Dating Do's and Don'ts. (Or maybe it's the other way around?) Anyways, a teen party is coming up, and we're shown how two boys go about asking girls to it. George asks Mildred, who, like DDAD, looks FAR too old (and 2 feet taller) then his proposed date. Amazingly, she accepts. Anyways, the other kid clumsily asks his date on the phone. Soon, they're off meeting the parents and then off to the date itself.
While not as campy as DDAD (Beginning to Date seems to drag a bit actually) it still has it's gee willakers dialogue and sily humour to make it reccomended.</reviewbody>
<reviewtitle>Very similar to that OTHER dating film...</reviewtitle>

<reviewbody>Before I start, I want to make it very clear that I have never seen this video. Friends who are nearby and somewhat helping me write this have, but I have not. So don't take my review too seriously. Cuz yeah... I havn't actually WATCHED the video. I'm glad thats out of the way.

Hi, I'm his friend, and I've actually seen the movie. So this might be slightly more helpful than anything he has to say. This movie is mainly about two couples (george&mildred, and Bill&helen)who are going to a dance, and scenes are repeated when they make common dating mistakes. There is a rather long and pointless scene when the coach of george is comparing dating to when george first learned to dive. It's rather irrelevant to the rest of the movie, and I dont see why it's there.

Yes, thats all good and well, but the fact that anyone would actually watch one of these movies, much less CARE proves the sorry state this world is in. I mean, honestly. What kind of pathetic fool goes around watchin movies more than 50 years old on the internet? If you're reading this, I have one or possibly more than one thing to say to you. YOU NEED SOMETHING MORE PRODUCTIVE TO DO WITH YOUR TIME! See, I havn't actually watched this movie, so I don't fit into the category I'm placing you (the reader) in. You're a moron or at least exrtremely pathetic, and I'm not. I refuse to watch idiotic movies if I can make a better one, and I'll have you all know that I can make a much better movie than this. Back to my friend...

First I gotta say that you, psychaos, are pathetic indeed, because if it is so pathetic to watch these movies, they why do you have an account on the site??? haha. N E WAYZ...This movie is amusing to watch, just to see the opinions of dating in the 50's. K I'm done.

You're opinions suck. Seriously. I've never seen someone with such a poor intellectual... ummm... process? Sure, that works. Anyways, this movie was really stupid. No one makes mistakes as stupid as the mistakes made by the characters of this film (coughnotafilmevercuznofilmcouldbethatbadcough), and no one corrects them. This movie is a complete violation of free speech, beacause it forces the opinions of others on the poor couples. I almost pity them, but then I realize they are starring in a crappy movie from way too long ago. And I'll have you know (to my friend) that the only reason I have an account here is to make fun of people. At least I'd like to think so. And as such, I'll give this movie 2 stars.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Beginning to Date (film #198 on Prelinger Archive). This Encyclopedia Brittanica film is livelier than most EB films, probably because it covers a classic genre: dating. The film features a bunch of junior high school kids going to their first dating party. Unlike most films of this type, the kids seem very realistic––they vary widely developmentally in both physical appearance and emotional maturity, which is typical of this age group. The most entertaining couple is George and Mildred. Although their names make them sound like senior citizens (and they probably are today), George is a classic case of delayed puberty (he looks and talks like he's about 9 1/2, tops) while Mildred is charmingly shy and awkward, as well as being a full head taller than George. The film contains both many moments of realistic junior high behavior (one boy fails to pick up his girlfriend from the bathroom because he's busy playing tag with another boy in the coatroom; the dance floor initially splits into the "boy huddle" and the "girl huddle") and great mstable moments (possible topics of conversation are printed in subtitles above characters' heads; Mildred says "bye" and walks into her house without giving George so much as a handshake). Another classic of the dating genre.
Ratings: Camp/Humor Value: SSSS. Weirdness: ¬¬¬¬. Historical Interest: ““““. Overall Rating: $$$$.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>A vintage 1953 guidance film on dating made for Junior High students. So naive and calm when compared to the present.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>'George' and 'Bill' (not their real names )were my brothers. 'George' was 14 and 'Bil'l was 15 at the time. It took another year but 'George' finally did get taller, about 5'9". Today, 'George' is a lawyer and Bill is a doctor. We really enjoyed watching this again after all these years. Yes, 'George' is happily married to a lovely lady who is shorter than he is.

We also found another movie 'Why Vandalism" that "Bill" was in a year later. Thank you for making these available. We were definitely entertained.</reviewbody>
